Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful for the roof over my head, my family, friends, and anyone who has been a part of my life. Most of all, I'm thankful to be alive. I hope everyone has a safe, gluttonous, and happy holiday!

P.S. Sorry for the lack of post the past couple of weeks. I hope to get back into the swing of things after this Thanksgiving weekend. Until next time, have fun doing nothing!!

I want a Kindle!

If you've been living in a cave, or don't really read books (how sad!), there are these handy electronic book readers out there that can hold a lot of books to read. After doing some research, I've come to the conclusion that I want the new Kinde 3 from Amazon. It's lighter, and more straight forward as a novel/ebook reader, which is what I'm looking for. Hmm, maybe I'll put together a Holiday Wish List here hehe. Anyway, going back to the Kindle, check out the overview here. Or you can go directly to Amazon's Kindle store here.

It would be a great addition to my couch camping gear too!

Last night a DJ saved my life

Alice DeeJay, to be exact.  A flashback of Y2K.  There I was, just minding my own business, surfing the net, listening to my clock radio, munching on some turon and boom; "Better off alone" comes on.  Immediately I was transported back in time.  Ten years.  My how time flies.  Even when you're not having fun, time goes on and says, "Keep up or dwell, it's up to you, but as you see, I steadily go...."

What was I doing back in 2000?  Let's see, I just finished x-ray school, went to the beach a few times that summer, hung out with friends and drank almost everyday, and had a job lined up--which coincidentally was out here in Palmdale!  Things were looking up.

Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse the following year, not only for me, but for the country as well.  9/11, economy started to take a crap, quitting my job for another that I didn't land, and other issues that would follow in the coming years.  But with all things that deal with time, there's good and there's bad.  It seems things have been leaning towards the bad for most people though, and we're slowly eeking out of it.

Now that another year is close to the end, I feel hopeful.  My life situation isn't that great at the moment, but I accept that.  All I can do is move forward and see what comes along, with the hopes that it will be something worthwhile.  Like this weekend; I'm going forward to a bar with a few friends, probably have a few drinks and hope that it will be worth my time!  As usual, until next time, have fun doing nothing!

Cue the vid!

A bag of goodies

Empanadas on the left, turon on the right.

Was out in Panorama City today and I had hankering for one of my favorite snacks: turon. Especially the turon made by the folks at D'New Aristocrat! It's basically a banana egg roll, covered in a caramel glaze. So good.

The other item in the bag is empanadas; a stuffed pastry filled usually with meat.  I don't really dig those, but I needed to distract others away from my turon!

I plan to head out there again on Friday while carting my dad around to his Dr. appointment. Can't wait!

Mmm, so dreamy.
I found a good recipe for turon at Panlasang Pinoy.  I might try it sometime, hopefully it comes out just as good.

Until next time, have fun doing nothing!
